There is power in community.

Sol Underground is an abolitionist ecosystem in Atlanta dedicated to Black and Indigenous resistance and liberation. We operate as an autonomous community-led group that coordinates various workshops, classes, and projects. We exist to build alternative systems of living based in equity and inclusion rather than marginalization and oppression. We believe community is the strongest form of resistance.

We had a physical space in a historically Black neighborhood in West Atlanta, GA for 13 months. The space was an incubator for our work. It was a place that welcomed people of all backgrounds and kept us grounded in the work we do. We held free classes and skillshares, a weekly community dinner, had a robust free store and pantry stocked with food and clothing, and even used the space as emergency short term housing for folks in need.

Despite no longer having a physical space, our commitment to building new systems and community continues. We host a variety of workshops and community based events at local businesses, have a bi-monthly pop up free store, and have expanded to be able to house several people who were facing houselessness. Our work is rooted in care and compassion and we won’t be stopping until all of us are free.
